We provide the Nuclear Defence & Civil Sector with Nuclear Estimation of engineering projects providing all levels from Junior/ Graduate estimators all the way up to senior estimators and managers, all with direct field/site based experience within the UK Nuclear and Defence Power stations or bases .
We are always expanding our professional contractor base, attracting candidates from all over the country, providing essential expertise to the nations Nuclear Power establishments and their associated sub contract organisations. We have continual demand for Nuclear Project Estimators .
We are currently looking to source a Lead Estimator to be based at BE Barnwood Offices.This position is based at Barnwood and or Hinkley Point B Power Station
Security clearance will be requried BC+.
40 hour week
Purpose
The Estimator is responsible for assisting in the production of estimates as required to suit the company's bidding and/or contract programme.
It is expected that you should have the following attributes:-
Detailed understanding of estimating methodologies and techniques
High standard of interpersonal skills
Open communication - excellent written and verbal communication skills at all levels of management
Ability to co-ordinate disparate information into a coherent estimate
High level of analytical and numeracy skills
Experienced in using IT applications such as Word, Excel and Access
Ability to work in a team as well as on their own initiative, building both internal and external relationships
Take responsibility for problems within their own capability and responsibility
Strives for quality and excellence in everything they do
Understanding of engineering design management and the application of Design Authority, ideally within a nuclear safety environment
Experience of large multi-disciplinary projects
Knowledge of Contractor bid/claim evaluations
Key duties
- Preparation of estimates for whole or part of projects in compliance with Company and Client standards and procedures, in accordance with all phases of the project life cycle
- Prepares the total project 'Basis of Estimate'
- Prepares the Estimate Risk Analysis and makes contingency recommendations
- Provide input to tender review process including claim evaluations and valuations of major changes
- Arranges and conducts project estimate reviews as required
- Analysis of quotations, surveys and developments and keeping abreast of economic trends
- Pro-actively recording and analysing historical data for benchmarking purposes at all phases of the project and any strategic information as required
- Assist the Senior, Principal and/or Chief Estimator in any tasks as required, including estimating strategic objectives, initiatives and development issues
- Assist in the production of factorial and exponential techniques and other empirical relationships for the evaluation of projects
- Develop new and maintain existing computerised estimating methods
- Interfaces with the applicable Site Project Controls Lead and site Lead Project manager in order to optimise work processes and efficiency
- Maintains communications and co-ordinates input from participating parties
